About the Journal

Launched in October 2001, the Scientific Bulletin of the  MPU School for Higher Studies is an open-access, semiannual journal published on a rolling basis. It is dedicated to fostering scholarly inquiry and disseminating ideas, research, and doctrinal and scientific studies developed within the Prosecution Service, as well as in the fields of law and other subjects relevant to its institutional mission.

Initially, the journal featured articles authored by members and staff of the Prosecution Service of the Union. As the publication gained prominence and became widely cited in academic circles for disseminating the institutional thinking of the Prosecution Service, it expanded to include contributions from members of the Judiciary, faculty from Brazilian and international universities, and other scholars whose work is relevant to the mission of the Public Prosecution Service.

The objectives of the Scientific Bulletin of the MPU School for Higher Studies (BCESMPU) are to:

  • contribute to critical reflection on the Brazilian legal system and to the strengthening of the Democratic Rule of Law;
  • preserve the institutional memory through the publication of studies related to the Brazilian Public Prosecution Service, particularly the Public Prosecution Service of the Union (MPU);
  • provide a forum for disseminating knowledge produced within ESMPU, particularly through its graduate programs.

Following double-blind peer review, manuscripts submitted by authors holding undergraduate, lato sensu postgraduate, or stricto sensu postgraduate qualifications will be considered for publication.

The BCESMPU publishes the following types of contributions:

  • research articles;
  • undergraduate research articles;
  • professional practice reports;
  • original book reviews of books published within the previous two years;
  • legal and/or institutional works whose dissemination is deemed relevant.

The Scientific Bulletin of the MPU School for Higher Studies holds a Qualis-CAPES A3 ranking in the fields of Law, Philosophy, and Interdisciplinary Studies.

The journals published by the Higher School of the Prosecution Service of the Union are governed by ESMPU Ordinance No. 137/2024, which establishes the Editorial Policy for Technical and Scientific Publications.
